Grand Final Comp Winners 2019

For the second year in a row, First Option has run member-only competitions around the AFL and NRL Grand Finals.

These are huge events that are watched by millions of people across Australia. To add a bit more excitement, we asked members to pick the winners and the winning margins.

This year, the two Grand Finals were on separate weekends. First, it was the AFL Grand Final between the Richmond Tigers and the GWS Giants at the MCG. The build up was huge with Richmond having a massive following and the Giants making it to the big dance for the first time. Unfortunately (for GWS and neutral fans) the game was a blowout with Richmond winning by a whopping 89 points.

We received over 350 entries, but no-one picked a winning margin so great. The nearest to the pin was Warren H from Pearcedale in Victoria with a margin of 71 points. When we spoke to Warren he told us that he was a mad Richmond supporter who had never won anything in his life! Well now he has won something - a Google Home smart speaker.

A week later it was the NRL Grand Final between the Sydney Roosters and the Canberra Raiders at ANZ Stadium. While most experts considered that the Raiders were the better team for the majority of the match, they were denied their fourth title after a series of controversial calls in a heart stopping 14 to 8 loss at the hands of the Roosters.

First Option received over 200 entries this time and lots of members correctly guessed the Roosters by 6 points, but it was Wayne M from Wattle Grove in NSW that sent in the first correct entry. Wayne has been a member for 35 years and works in IT at Tabcorp Granville. He received his Google Home smart speaker in person from Rhonda, First Option’s Corporate Relationship Manager in NSW.

Congratulations to Warren and Wayne for being our winners, and thanks to all members who entered this year.
