First Option to abolish rediATM fees

Attention: open in a new window. Print

On 24 September 2017, Comm Bank announced the removal of ATM direct charges to non-Comm Bank clients (including First Option Members) that use the Comm Bank ATM network.

Westpac, ANZ and nab quickly followed by dropping their ATM direct charge fees.

What about rediATM fees?

Many years ago, First Option signed up to the rediATM network. This gave Members greater access to direct-charge free ATMs, including nab ATMs. However, the banks’ decision to remove their ATM charges will allow First Option to exit this network.

As a result, First Option will abolish its rediATM fees from 1 June 2018.

Where should I go now?

From 1 June 2018, the best option for Members and First Option is to use an ATM owned by the following banks, as they have no direct charge fee.

  • ANZ
  • Comm Bank
  • nab
  • Westpac
  • Suncorp
  • BOQ - in branch ATMs only

This is great news for all Members.

Important note about RediATMs.

From 1 June 2018, First Option is no longer part of the RediATM network. Therefore First Option has abolished its RediATM fees. While most bank owned ATMs are now direct charge free, members may incur a direct charge by some rediATM owners. Also, members will no longer be able to change their PINs at a rediATM, or use other rediATM functions such as the transfer option. However the First Option Easy App does allow PIN change.
