Choose your own card PIN in IB

Even if you don’t know your current PIN.

We have some great news that will make life much easier for First Option members.

In the past, if a member had forgotten their PIN, First Option would need to order a new card and a new PIN. This was a hassle, especially if you had direct debits linked to your existing card. There was also a fee to replace the card.

But now, as part of a recent upgrade, you can now choose your own Visa Card PIN using Internet Banking (IB). And best of all, you don’t even need to know the current PIN.

How do I change my PIN?

  • First, you must be registered for One Time Passwords. These are sent to your phone via SMS as an added security measure.
  • If you’re not registered, simply login to IB, go to Services & Help and select “Setup Security Options”.
  • Then head to the My Preferences menu, select “PIN Change” and follow the steps.

Top 5 PIN Tips

  1. The golden rule. Never tell anyone your PIN – not even a First Option employee!
  2. Do not choose a PIN that can easily be guessed (e.g. date of birth). If you do, you may be liable for unauthorised transactions.
  3. Do not write your PIN on your Visa Card
  4. Do not keep your PIN with your Visa Card
  5. Always cover and protect your PIN
